Yunnan Airport Group (YAG), a major airport operator in southwestern China, recorded robust passenger traffic in the first half of 2026 (H1 2026), supported by expanding international connectivity and sustained demand for air travel. According to Yunnan Aviation Industry Investment Group, airports across Yunnan Province handled 38.05 million passengers, alongside approximately 270,000 aircraft movements and 237,300 tonnes of cargo and mail during the period. These indicators ranked sixth, sixth and twelfth nationally, respectively, highlighting Yunnan’s position in China's aviation network.
Financial performance also improved, although the latest available consolidated financial figures in the source document cover the first nine months of 2025 (9M 2025). YAG reported revenue of RMB4.34bn, representing a 14.4% year-on-year (YoY) increase. Its net loss attributable to shareholders narrowed by RMB218mn to RMB278mn, reflecting improving operating conditions despite continued investment requirements and the financial burden associated with maintaining smaller regional airports.
At the airport level, Kunming Changshui International Airport remained the group's principal aviation hub and international gateway.

Frequencies were also increased across 20 international routes, including Kuala Lumpur and Vientiane.
Operational efficiency remained strong, with Yunnan's airports achieving an average flight departure punctuality rate of 94.79%, compared with 95.40% at Kunming. More recently, Kunming handled 2.63 million international passengers and approximately 22,000 international aircraft movements between January 1 and October 7, 2026, with international passenger traffic increasing by 10.3% YoY.
