By Kevin Rozario (London, United Kingdom) Switzerland’s biggest air gateway had a very good 2019 on several fronts. Zürich Airport (ZRH) – operated by Flughafen Zürich – pushed its passenger throughput past 30 million and achieved commercial turnover of over CHF 600 million (US$619 million) for the first time. It has also expanded its international influence by landing the contract to design, develop and operate the new Noida International Airport in Jewar south of Delhi in India. The Indian re-entry comes after the successful sale of its shares at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport in 2017. Flughafen Zürich regards India as a “focus market” for the company.
