Munich Airport International has seen a strong recovery from the pandemic at Munich Airport and Sofia Airports.

In 2023, it also launched a new, award-winning terminal at Newark Liberty International Airport in the United States while announcing further investments for the development of Sofia Airport in Bulgaria and signing a US$11bn joint-venture deal for Sangley Point International Airport in the Philippines.

Munich Airport handled 34.6 million passengers in the eleven months from January 2023 to November 2023, which was a 18.6% increase compared to the number of passengers handled in the same period in 2022.

The number of passengers handled during this period was 22.3% lower than the number of passengers handled in the same period of 2019.

At Sofia Airport in Bulgaria, the number of passengers handled in the in the first half of 2023 totaled 3.4 million, which is 0.7% lower than the number of passengers handled in the same period in 2019. According to Sofia Airport, the data suggests that traffic is gradually recovering from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, Sofia Airport said.
