In April 2023, the National Center for Privatization (NCP), unveiled the plans to privatize the airports of Abha, Taif, Hail and Qassim in Saudi Arabia under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model as part of a bigger pipeline of 200 privatisation and PPP projects across 17 sectors. The projects will be procured by Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services, according to details shared by NCP. 

The project intends to develop Ha'il Airport and service facilities in accordance with the standards approved by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). The contract type, duration and launch details were not disclosed but the targeted increase in capacity for the airport is 3 million passengers per annum.
