Burkina Faso’s Government secured loans totaling USD61.8mn from West African Development Bank (WADB) and Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Bank for Investment and Development for construction of the new airport. WADB will reportedly provide funding of USD51.5mn for road works, water systems, emergency services facilities, equipment purchases and construction of technical buildings related to the project. ECOWAS Bank will contribute USD10.3m for construction of administrative buildings. The gov’t is seeking to concession the airport to private investors.
