With a Major Project in the Philippines and a New Office in Singapore, Munich Airport International Expands its Footprint in the Asia-Pacific

As 2022 comes to a close, Munich Airport International has much to be optimistic about as it looks at its achievements for the year.
At Munich Airport, which is operated by MAI’s parent company Flughafen München, 26.5 million passengers passed through its terminals for the ten-month period ended 31 October 2022, which amounted to 14 million more passengers than the passenger volume for the entire year of 2021.
Munich Airport saw a busy summer with 10.3 million passengers in July, August and September 2022, which was 74% that of passenger levels in 2019.

At Bulgaria’s Sofia Airport, the 4.5 million passengers handled in the first nine months of 2022 was close to 1 million less than in the same period in 2019 , showing a slow recovery from the pandemic, according to a SOF Connect press release.
Bulgaria’s Transport Ministry also announced that the SOF Connect consortium would invest over BGN140MN (US$75.1mn/EUR71.6mn) in the upgrade of Sofia Airport over the first five years of its contract which awarded in 2020, up from the originally earmarked EUR43mn.
