Passenger traffic in 2023 at Mitsubishi Corporation’s airports in Japan has moved closer to recovery, with operating income (EBIT) in the black. The previous year also saw Mitsubishi Corporation’s near completion of the new Terminal 3 of the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Bangladesh and a growth in Korean traffic at Chinggis Khaan International Airport. New capital developments at Fukuoka Airport and New Chitose Airport add on to the prospects of a busy year for Mitsubishi Corporation.

Fukuoka Airport

Operating income was JPY2.9bn (compared to a deficit of JPY2.7bn in the same period last year).

The airport also announced that it had made a loss of JPY400mn for the six-month period ended 30 September 2023. Its loss for the same period in 2022 was JPY6.1BN yen.

The airport operator also emphasized that while it had been making for loss for the fifth consecutive year since its privatization, the loss has been significantly reduced with the recovery in passenger traffic due to the resumption of international flight operations.
