GIC, officially known as GIC Private Limited, is a sovereign wealth fund established by the Government of Singapore in 1981 to manage the country's foreign reserves. Its primary mission is to preserve and enhance the international purchasing power of these reserves by achieving good long-term returns above global inflation over a 20-year investment horizon.
Headquartered in Singapore, GIC operates with a global presence, maintaining 11 offices in key financial cities worldwide and employing approximately 2,300 individuals. The fund invests across a diverse range of asset classes, including equities, fixed income, real estate, private equity, venture capital, and infrastructure, spanning over 40 countries. As of June 2023, GIC managed assets estimated at US$770 billion, positioning it among the world's largest sovereign wealth funds.
