Major Expansions at Manchester and Stansted Airports Follow Manchester Airport Group’s Recovery from the Pandemic

Manchester Airport Group which consists of Manchester, London Stansted and East Midlands airports saw a strong recovery in the year ended March 2023. During this period, total passenger throughput reached 54.1 million passengers, which was a year-on-year increase of 163.2% compared to the passenger throughput for the same period in the previous year.
Passenger traffic for Manchester, London Stansted and East Midlands airports saw year-on-year growth rates of 176%, 148.6% and 192.1% respectively.

The strong recovery of the three airports translated into improved revenue out-turns.
For the year ended March 2023, Manchester Airport Group generated a total turnover of GBP1bn, a 122.7% increase compared to the turnover generated in the same period in for the year ended March 2022.
In terms of revenue streams, car parking and retail concessions saw the greatest year-on-year improvements of 156.6% and 188.8% respectively.
In terms of division, the greatest contributors to Manchester Airport Group’s revenues were Manchester Airport and London Stansted Airport which made up 42% and 36% of the Group’s revenues respectively.
In particular, Manchester Airport Group’s ecommerce and intelligent passenger services division, CAVU generated a turnover of GBP142.1mn, which was a 338.6% increase year-on-year. CAVU is a merger of firm's US and digital divisions MAGO and MAG USA.
