Undoubtedly, in 2021, Groupe ADP made significant strides towards recovery from the disruption of its global airport business that had been caused by the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.

With 160 million passengers passing through its airports in 2021, Groupe ADP saw a year-on-year increase in total passenger throughput by 37.2% , which was 45.6% of the throughput in the pre-pandemic year of 2021. At its two airports serving Paris, which make up over 40% of the Group’s total passenger traffic, total passenger traffic in 2021 increased by 26.8% compared to that in the same period in 2020. Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport saw a year-on-year increase by 17.7% to 26.2 million passengers while Paris Orly Airport saw a 45.6% increase in passenger traffic to 15.7 million passengers.

Outside of Paris, most of Groupe ADP’s airports saw double-digit year-on-year increases in passenger traffic in 2021. While certain airports such as those in Madagascar (Antananarivo), Mauritius, Philippines (Cebu), and Saudi Arabia (Medinah) continued to saw year-on-year declines in passenger traffic in 2021, these airports all had relatively low passenger throughputs compared the other airports in the Groupe ADP portfolio even before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, their poor performance in 2021 did not have a significant impact on overall passenger traffic growth of Groupe ADP’s airports.
