For the year 2022, the airports in Mexico and Jamaica that were operated by Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico, S.A.B. de C.V. (GAP) saw a strong recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, with total passenger traffic for the year reaching 56.7 million, which was 16.4% higher than that for 2019, meaning that total passenger traffic had surpassed pre-pandemic levels.

Out of GAP’s 56.7 million passengers in Mexico and Jamaica for the year 2022, the top five airports – Guadalajara, Tijuana, Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta and Montego Bay (Sangster) – handled 80.3% of the total passenger throughput. In particular, Guadalajara Airport and Tijuana Airport handled 27.9 million passengers, or close to 50% of the total number of passengers handled by GAP.

The full-recovery in the year 2022 also translated into a strong financial performance. GAP generated a turnover of MXN22.5bn, which was 44.0% higher than that in 2021, and 57.4% higher than that in 2019.

GAP’s revenue of MXN22.5bn was the highest over the past 10-year period. At MXN395 per passenger, GAP’s revenue per passenger in 2022 as well as the proportion of non-aeronautical revenues at 77% was also the highest over the past decade.

The airport operator also generated an EBITDA of MXN16.1bn, which translated into an EBITDA margin of 71.6%, and which was 64.7% higher than that in the pre-pandemic period of 2019.
