On 5 June 2021, the Aviation Minister stated that the government was preparing for sale of its minority stakes in DEL, BOM, HYD and BLR, currently held through AAI. The planned sale is part of the government’s asset monetisation programme. The majority of stakeholders in the respective airport companies are expected to be given the opportunity to exercise the right of first refusal to buy out AAI’s stake. If the right is not exercised within a prescribed timeframe, AAI is likely to invite offers to buy its stakes.
