In mid-Jul. 2020, Vietnam’s central province of Quảng Nam announced plans for investment and development for VCL via a proposed a Private-Public-Partnership model. The development plan for VCL includes expansion of the airport site to 3,000ha to facilitate a logistics centre serving Southeast and South Asia with a 3,000km flight radius. Based on a master plan approved by the gov’t in 2018, VCL will have a capacity of 5m and 4.1m tonnes of cargo per year by 2030, with the capability of handling large aircraft including the Airbus A350 and Boeing 787.
