In a bid to revitalize SWF following the termination of scheduled trans-Atlantic flights via Norwegian Air, in the wake of the global grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX fleet, the PANYNJ issued a request for proposal to the private sector to manage the New Windsor facility and improve service levels with a strong focus operations, maintenance, concession management and route development to attract new int’l/domestic carriers and expand SWF’s range of destinations served. SWF is currently managed by AvPORTS Management, which manages several other U.S. commercial and general aviation airports including Westchester County, Albany, Tweed New Haven, Teterboro, Republic Airport in Farmingdale, Long Island and the Gary/Chicago airports. The According to PANYNJ Kevin O’Toole SWF’s strategic plan is focused on “continued growth” and “the airport’s unique international capability, market positioning and proven viability as a low cost alternative for the New York and New Jersey metropolitan region.”
