Overview

Located on the border of Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts, about 45 km from the port, the Bhogapuram Airport greenfield project was originally tendered in 2017 by the Andhra Pradesh gov’t under a Public-Private Partnership framework, with Airports Authority of India declared as the successful bidder, having submitted the highest offered revenue share, however the bid was subsequently terminated in Jan. 2018. In 2019, a new tender was launched, based on a per-passenger concession fee, under a design, build, finance, construction, development, operation and maintenance concession structure. The capacity of the initial phase is designed for six million pax/year, to be constructed within 36 months of the commencement of work, with an ultimate design of 18m pax/year to be completed under two subsequent phases at a total cost of cost ~USD550m.
