Apr. 10, 2021 – The gov’t concession GOZ for a 35 year term in 2016, following enable decisions by the Bulgarian government. The airport was sold to special purpose company Gorna Oryahovitsa Airport EAD, owned by private Bulgarian company Kristalna Voda and state-owned company Gorna Oryahovitsa Airport. The concession agreement requires investments of over 32m levs (USD19.5m), of which more than 22m levs in the first four years of the term, however actual investments to date total BGN5.4m . Approaching the end of its electoral mandate, the Boyko Borissov gov’t extended the capital investment deadline to 2024 due the the impacts of the global pandemic.
