Early 2020 – DAESP initiated a public hearing process for the concession of 22 regional airports located throughout the state. The total estimated capex for these 22 airports under the concession framework is R$400m, plus R$300m in operating expenses. Total traffic demand for the 22 airports is expected to reach 8.3m passengers by 2050 (forecasted prior to the COVID19 crisis). Concessions will be granted under two blocks. The Northwest Block includes São José do Rio Preto, Presidente Prudente, Araçatuba, Votuporanga, Barretos, Avaré-Arandu, Dracena, Tupã, Presidente Epitácio, Andradina, Assis, Penápolis, São Manuel, which are mix of regional and general aviation airports. São José do Rio Preto and Presidente Prudente are the most attractive airports in the group. Viewed as complex and risky prior to the COVID19 crisis, market interest is expected to be muted. Mid-Apr. 2020 – updated project brief forecasts a total investment of R$447m for the two blocks. The minimum grant for the Northwest Block is R$6.8m.
