With the re-election of Felicio Ramuth as Mayor of the  São José dos Campos in November 2020, he had planned the privatization of the city’s airport as one of his first actions in 2021. The Mayor made a proposal offering a airport concession, which then belonged Infraero, to the private sector in a process that should begin in 2020. In Dec 2020, The Municipality of São José dos Campos signed an agreement for the transfer of the administration of São José dos Campos from Infraero to the Municipality of São José dos Campos.  The agreement provided for the administration of the airport for 35 years. According to the Mayor,  the agreement allowed the city to grant the airport to the private sector. Infraero, which was managing the space, would stay until 31 December 2021, but could leave if the concession took place before the period.
