Overview

The Guarujá airport is a former Brazilian Air Force airfield which the gov’t has decided to convert it to civilian commercial operation due to growing market demand from nearby Santos and close proximity to one of Brazil’s main seaports. During the Brazilian high season (Nov. to Mar.), the port is a key destination for cruise ship traffic, supporting potential charter and cargo demand. Unserved domestic routes/opportunities include Rio de Janeiro , Curitiba, Forteleza and Salvador. Santos is the second most prominent region in Brazil for petroleum exploration and extraction. Capital investment over the term of the concession is estimated at USD17.4m including USD4.0m in the first year of the concession. The minimum bid is set at USD256k. The selected concessionaire will granted one year to obtain approval from regulator to operate the airport.
