In November 2019, the Bahamian government announced that it was entertaining multiple offers from local and international investors, prior to the gov't formally approaching the capital markets for funds, to raise USD100m for the upgrade of four Family Island airports (GGT, ELH, LGI, MHH) through a PPP framework. The government also indicated that the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), RoyalFidelity Merchant Bank & Trust, Colina Financial Advisors Ltd. (CFAL) and other local finance houses are interested in participating in the project. The government reportedly has USD35m in IDB financing secured and is seeking the additional USD100-120m to complete funding of the project. Planned capital investment includes USD65-68m each for GGT and ELH; USD15-18m for LGI and USD10m of MHH. The planned GGT works will expand the existing terminal from 2,000 sq.ft. to 60,000 sq.ft.
